    • Expressions of Interest sought from organisations capable of providing biomass feedstock improvement processes and technology for commercial scale biomass to operate within energy conversion plants or fuel supplier applications
    • Expressions of interest (EoI) should be submitted to the ETI by 2pm on 31 May 2016

The Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) wants to hear from  organisations capable of developing and demonstrating a biomass pre-treatment system that incorporates biomass chipping, screening, washing and drying.

The ETI has issued an EoI for the bioenergy feedstock improvement process project. Providing it can identify suitable delivery partners through this EoI process, the ETI intends to then procure a semi-commercial scale technology demonstration project involving pre-treatment operations.

    • ETI issues Request for Proposals seeking partners for Salt Cavern Appraisal for Hydrogen and Gas Storage project
    • The project builds on earlier ETI work which showed that storing hydrogen in salt caverns could provide a significant contribution to decarbonising the UK’s future electricity grid
    • The request for proposals will close on 2 June 2016; the deadline for notification of intention to submit a proposal is 11 May 2016

A new project is being launched today by the Energy Technologies Institute to examine in further detail the potential for storing hydrogen and hydrogen gas mixtures in salt caverns which can then be used in gas turbines when demand for electricity is high.
